Community

so tonight at church i talked to one of my friends about church today...and how it looks as far as community of people... the more i read the new testament and compare it to our church in America the more i realize how far off we are the idea behind the church...in today's society we think that the church is a building and i know we all know that its more then that but how come we don't live that way? how come we treat a church like some sort of a club that we get together for couple times a week and do our thing and go home... I know in Acts 2:42 says "They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." so why do we put all of those things in one hour and a half meeting? it seems like we just hear the word taught to us by the pastor and that is all that we are supposed to do... i realize that we all have our "lives" that we try to live and not spend all of our time "in church" but shouldn't being a church of Christ be a life style? shouldn't there be no difference between our meeting on Sunday and Wednesday and our every day life...Chinese church is one of the largest and successful churches in the world and they meet at houses and spend a lot of time together and fellowship with each other and study the word and pray together as a body of believers... and they give up their lives for each other... i think its meant to be a tight group of friends that love the Lord together and spend time together eat together and study the word together... one word that i like in this verse is the word devoting... that means that it took work to do this ha.. i am sure some people didn't get along but they devoted or committed themselves to to work together...i know this sounds like i am angry and all haha but i am not just a bit frustrated and really want the body of Christ to live as a body and not a social club... and truly love one another and spend time with them... maybe then more people would want to join our body of believers instead of our clubs... so i am out for now and grace and peace :)
